User Interface Changes
The Nothing OS 4.0 offers a new user interface with a build number of Asteroids B 4.0, providing smooth performance in applications like Wi-Fi and calling. Key features include app optimization for faster launches and minor updates to the interface, such as new pop-up functionalities. Overall, while significant new features are limited, the update enhances usability and efficiency.
Lock Glimpse Feature
The new ‘Lock Glimpse’ feature allows users to refresh their lock screen with wallpapers based on preferences, likened to an ad experience seen in Nothing phones. However, this addition is not well-received, as it feels like an unwanted advertisement rather than a useful feature, detracting from the otherwise bloatware-free experience. Users can disable it if they prefer to maintain their original wallpaper without interruptions.
Icon Redesigns

The new update introduces redesigned app icons in the Nothing 4.0 open beta, featuring a refreshed aesthetic compared to previous versions. Notable changes include updates to the recorder, weather, camera, and gallery icons, moving from a red and black theme to a more streamlined white and black color scheme. Users are encouraged to share their preferences between old and new icons in the comments.
Pop-Up View Support

The stable update of Nothing OS 4.0 will introduce a new pop-up view feature that supports dual apps, allowing users to drag and minimize multiple applications simultaneously. Additionally, users will see new lock screen clock faces and enhancements to quick settings, including a two-by-two size format for icons. An extra dark mode option will also be available, offering a more profound black tone compared to previous versions.

The update also includes ‘Essentials Apps’ for creating AI-generated widgets and a ‘Playground’ website offering community-driven creations. Users can now add various widgets to their home screens, including a TikTok game and custom audio profiles for Nothing headphones.
AI Usage Dashboard
The AI Usage dashboard can be found in the Intelligence Toolkit section, allowing users to monitor AI application usage, particularly in the Essential space. After using an AI feature, a new icon appears in the status bar, indicating the AI’s activity. Detailed usage statistics, including specific AI models used and weekly data, are displayed, offering insights into all AI interactions.
Recorder App Revamp
The revamped recorder app introduces a redesigned UI, enhancing user experience with features like improved animations and a dark mode option. Users can easily start recordings with a new interface, where the save process now includes smooth animations and size adjustments. Overall, these updates are showcased in the Nothing OS 4.0 for Phone (3A) and (3A) Pro, aiming for a seamless user interaction.
